Parklands also offers Auslan lessons for students from Years 3 - 6, in shoulder hours outside conventional class times on a Thursday.
Students gain significant skills in signing under the tutelage of Dina Maley, a hearing-impaired Auslan teacher, and Lou McKenna.
Many school events are presented with Auslan interpretation.
Italian language lessons have been a feature of Parklands School throughout its history. Students start learning Italian in weekly classes from Pre Primary and continue to Year 6.
Children enjoy the lessons, which are engaging, interactive and connected to Montessori principles. Classes incorporate spoken language into singing, games and outside activities, and the students also learn to read and write Italian.
Occasionally, a school assembly is presented in Italian.
