Extra Curricula Activities


Class music features at Parklands School for students in Pre Primary to Year 6, and includes rhythm, basic music theory and performance. The School has sufficient musical instruments for all children to participate in class performances.

The School also has a Choir, the Pride of Parklands, for students in Years 4 to 6. The Choir rehearse on a Monday from 8:30am - 9:00am under the guidance of Lou McKenna. The Choir perform at School Assemblies and at events in the community.

Further tuition may be available in voice, piano, music theory and guitar with private tutors providing lessons in class time.

Lunch time djembe drumming sessions operate on a Tuesday with Tuaari and are available for students from Years 1 to 6.

In-term swimming lessons are conducted for a fortnight each year for students in Pre Primary to Year 6 at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

Parklands School have basketball teams that compete in the local basketball competition during Terms 1 and 4. Currently we have six teams from Years 3 to 6 competing in the local basketball association competition.

Parklands enter teams in the local junior soccer association competition on a Saturday morning during Terms 2 and 3, catering for all levels, boys and girls or school age (Kindergarten students need to turn 5 in 2019 to be eligible to play).

Teams train once a week after school.

Auslan is offered as an extra-curricular activity in short sessions immediately before the start of the school day on a Thursday. Students gain significant skills in signing under the tutelage of a hearing-impaired Auslan teacher. Many school events are presented with Auslan interpretation.
