Cheryl Baum

Education Assistant

I live out at Porongurup on a farm with my husband. We have 3 adult children, our youngest two are twins.

I was attracted to the EA role at Parklands because the values of community, fairness, kindness and respect resonated with me. Parklands also is a small school which I loved as I came from a small school with the same kind of values.

I have a passion for assisting and supporting primary school students through their education. By being patient and sensitive towards the needs of children, I strive to build, protect and nurture a trusting and caring relationship which I hope makes a difference in their learning. I provide small group support and one-on-one help to students who need it and together with the teacher help them to become more engaged and motivated in their learning creating increased confidence which is really rewarding to see.

Lastly, something that not everyone might know is that I work as a supervisor on Saturdays at Great Southern Grammar Boarding with year 7 and 8 boys and girls, which I really enjoy and I’m a lover of the ocean, especially swimming.

Qualifications:

Certificate IV in Education Support
