Kylie Shepherd
Year 1
I feel incredibly grateful to have joined Parklands when my child began in the three-year-old Kindy program. It was a special experience to be her teacher, and since then, Parklands has become an important part of my professional life. I’m fortunate to work with kind, committed educators and to spend my days with children whose curiosity and sense of wonder remind me of the importance of my job and why I love doing it.
What I enjoy most about teaching is following the natural curiosity of children. Each group brings a unique mix of personalities, ideas, and energy, and it is a joy to watch them learn and grow throughout the year. I have always had a strong connection to nature and animals, having grown up on a farm and spent much of my life riding horses. That connection has influenced the way I teach and how I help children stay curious about the world around them. They take joy in the small things, and I want that love of nature and learning from it to continue at school.
I want every child to feel safe, valued and supported. I believe strong relationships are at the heart of meaningful learning, so I focus on building kindness, respect, and a sense of belonging. The energy and openness children bring to the classroom inspire me every day, reminding me of both the responsibility and the reward that come with teaching in the early years.
