I came to the Parklands School Board as an experienced educator. My journey as an educator began when I had my own children and continued through my time as a classroom teacher (including at Parklands in its earliest days), school leader, and then as a university academic in teacher education. Over all those experiences, my abiding passion has been to see learners thrive and to expand my views, and those of others, about how learning happens for different people and to celebrate the many ways to achieve success and growth.

Just as children thrive in a loving and supportive family, so they do in caring and supportive formal learning environments built by knowledgeable and committed educators. I consider it a terrific opportunity to serve on the Board of Parklands and help to achieve the goals of the school.

I am officially retired now but find I cannot resist working with pre-service teachers and so I still do some teaching at UWA here in Albany and guide pre-service teachers on their school placements. Because I love music and enjoy nothing more than people coming together in harmony, I spend my free time singing in a four-part choir.
